The Groupon campaign to raise funds for the Girls’ Night In program was a huge success – raising over $1,000 to purchase goodies bags and provide supplies for the event.
The Girls’ Night In program will provide a group of girls with the opportunity to spend the night at the Adoption Network Cleveland offices and watch movies, eat popcorn and do all the other stuff girls do at a slumber party. The sleep over will also include an educational component where the girls will learn and talk about topics that impact their lives. Past topics have included how to establish and maintain healthy relationships.
Supporters of Adoption Network Cleveland had just three days to donate at least $360 for the program to receive any funding.
“We were just blown away by the generosity of all those who supported this program,” said Executive Director Betsie Norris. “For many of these girls, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity since they can only spend the night in county-approved homes. And for so many people to come together to show their support for these girls is an amazing testament to the fact that people really do care about them.”
Adoption Network Cleveland was chosen by G-Team, the philanthropic arm of Groupon, to participate in a program. Groupon will pay for all the credit card fees and 100% of the proceeds will go to support the Girls’ Night In program.
“I would just like to say again how grateful we are to everyone who donated, emailed, shared and tweeted this campaign,” said Norris. “Now these young women can experience a teenage rite of passage that they otherwise would have missed out on."
