This session will be open-ended, meaning the participants will set the agenda based on each person's family situation.  Time will be reserved to discuss any concerns and feeling elicited from the entire series.  We will revisit "making a promise."

Our Adoptive Family Support Group meets monthly and provides opportunities for families to meet, share their experiences and learn from each other and our featured presenters.  Concurrent meetings are held for teens.  Programming for school-aged children and childcare for preschoolers are available.  Regular social activities are also planned to help adoptive families connect with one another.

*The Adoption Triad Advocate Award recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the adoption field as demonstrated by a specific accomplishment, project, program or milestone during the year meeting one or more of the following criteria:
  • Contributed through exceptional volunteer efforts
  • Influenced the wider community through their advocacy and  outreach efforts
  • Improved the lives of individual children and teens waiting for adoption
  • Enhanced the experiences adoption triad members by providing information, advocacy, or other support.
**The Founder's Award is given annually to the volunteer who best exemplifies the values of Adoption Network Cleveland through their service that year. This volunteer could serve in any way – as a mentor, committee member, board member, meeting facilitator, fundraising volunteer, project assistant etc.

The transracial group will meet from 2:30 - 4:30 pm on Saturday, November 22 at the Shaker Heights Thornton Park Ice Rink (3301 Warrensville Center Road).  Admission is $3.00 for kids ages 2-5 and $6.00 for people 6 and older.  There will be chili afterwards at Anita and Joe Miller's house.

Transracial Adoptive Family Group

The Transracial Adoptive Family Group is for families who have been formed through transracial adoption and whose children are infants through elementary school age. 

The purpose of this group is to offer a setting where both children and adults can form relationships and be around other families who share similar experiences.  It allows kids to play, parents to visit and everyone to eat.  Please bring something to share.
