Adoption Navigators are trained experts who support people before, during, and after the process of adopting from the public child welfare system (children who are in county care who have been removed from their birth families through no fault of their own). Many of our navigators have themselves adopted from, or have other experience with, the public child welfare system.
One of the largest barriers to public adoption is the difficulties people face in getting from their initial inquiry to actually adopting. By providing Adoption Navigators, Adoption Network Cleveland has been able to more than double the likelihood that someone who inquires about adopting will successfully navigate the homestudy and placement process.
In addition, Adoption Navigators work closely with county social workers to help facilitate matches between available children and prospective parents, and raise awareness about children who are waiting for adoptive families.
The services of Adoption Navigators are free, but we strongly encourage membership so that families working with Navigators can be kept informed about all activities and events that might be interesting or helpful to them.
Adoption Navigators help create families by helping parents adopt, and help children by assisting in finding “forever families” for them. Let us know how we can help you.
