Specialized Workshops for Adoptive Parents

August - December 2007

All workshops are free and open to any adoptive and foster parents and professionals in the field who are interested in attending. Foster parent training certificates and social work/counselor CEUs will be provided for each workshop. Sorry, child care is not available unless noted otherwise. Children may not attend.

Mystery History : Helping your Foster/Adopted child understand the past

Equips parents with the knowledge and tools they will need to communicate with their adopted child about his/her past.

Addresses difficult questions regarding when and how to share information with their child.

Teaches how to make sense of the past for adopted children of all ages.

New! Raising Cain and Able: New Insights Into Bringing up Healthy, Competent Boys:

Boys, in America, are doing worse in the classroom than they were 10 years ago. Some are in touch with their feelings, able to express them, good at managing their anger and other emotions. And many are not. In this session, participants will become acquainted with some of the most recent research on boys in American culture, the differences between boys and girls behavior, and tips for how to help boys in school and at home with the special issues that they face today.
