Support and Education

Our programming for adoptive families centers around support, education and networking that allows participants to feel greater connection and confidence in their parenting journey.

Our Adoptive Family Support Group meets monthly and provides opportunities for families to meet, share their experiences and learn from each other and our featured presenters. Concurrent meetings are held for teens. Programming for school-aged children and childcare for preschoolers are available for a modest fee. The meetings are typically held on the second or third Thursday evening of the month. Regular social activities are also planned to help adoptive families connect with one another. For exact dates and times, visit our calendar.

Once a quarter, we host an Adoption Finalization Celebration for families who have recently finalized an adoption. These events are a great time to meet other adoptive families and to learn about support that Adoption Network Cleveland provides for families after adoption.

We recognize that men in our families need support and have recently started a Men’s Support Group for fathers and men serving in other support roles – such as uncles, grandfathers, significant others and mentors. The group meets every other month on a Saturday morning.

For adoptive families who are experiencing any school-related issues, our Educational Liaison is an experienced school professional available to work with parents, especially those who have adopted from the foster care system.

There are no fees for the support we provide to adoptive families, but we ask that all families that use our services to become members of Adoption Network Cleveland. (A sliding scale is available for families who have adopted or are in the process of adopting from the public child welfare system and cannot afford to pay the full membership cost.)

“It is a great support to meet and learn from other families built through adoption.”
