Adoption Loss: Healing Grief\, Building Attachment\n\nBuilding a family th
rough adoption can be a loving solution that addresses the needs of all me
mbers of the kinship network. The roots of the adoptive family tree\, how
ever\, germinate from the complex soil of loss. This is true for birth mo
thers\, adoptees and\, often\, for adoptive moms too. Acknowledging this
parallel loss together can be a useful bridge in building a satisfying and
trusting bond in the family. It can also light the path for healthy inte
gration of all members of the kinship network into the narrative. This pre
sentation will explore the multi-faceted role of ambiguous loss and disenf
ranchised grief in adoption and how healing these unresolved feelings can
allow pathways of connection to blossom. \n\nAbout Amy Geller\, LCSW\nAmy

ce in Northern New Jersey. She received her BA Psychology from The George
