 'Talking to Kids About Birth Family.' A part of supporting children is hel
 ping them understand their histories\, including their adoption story and 
 important information about their birth families. Kids look to their paren
 ts for accurate information and context delivered in a developmentally app
 ropriate manner to help them understand who they are in relation to both t
 heir biological and adoptive families. Our discussion will focus on when\,
  what\, and how to share important information with children considering o
 penness\, developmental appropriateness\, and building trust. Join us as w
 e consider ways to handle discussions about birth family.\n\nAbout Our Pre
 senter\, Ty Cliffel\, LPC and Director of Programs\nTy Cliffel\, LPC\, has
  served children and families in a variety of settings including residenti
 al treatment\, group homes\, schools\, and in private practice. She has ov
 erseen the recruitment and training of foster and adoptive parents\, condu
 cted home studies\, and provided support services for families throughout 
 the placement process. She is a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)
  Practitioner and Pathways to Permanence 2 Facilitator. She has served on 
 the Board of Directors with Adoption Knowledge Affiliates for the past thr
 ee years. Ty is an adoptee who has been in reunion with her birth family f
 or over 25 years.
