 will provide a framework for thinking about racism. How does your personal
  racism journey impact the way you talk about this important issue with yo
 ur kids? Does it impact what you are teaching your kids about racism? This
  interactive discussion will conclude with practical tips and tools for mo
 ving the conversation about race with your children to include positive ch
 ange.\n\nAbout Chelsy Alexander\, MSW\nChelsy earned her bachelor's degree
  in Social Work from the University of North Texas in 2009. During her tim
 e in undergraduate studies\, she began her work in the social service fiel
 d with Communities in Schools and also spent time working with Collin Coun
 ty Children’s Advocacy Center in various roles.  She earned her Master’s D
 egree in Social Work from The University of Houston in 2011. From there sh
 e continued to work with children and families in multiple capacities incl
 uding Baylor College of Medicine Community Programs and Texas Children's H
 ospital. Most recently\, she worked as the Family Development Coordinator 
 for The Settlement Home for Children\, Foster Care and Adoption Program wh
 ere her efforts went towards recruiting and training potential foster/adop
 tive families. \n\nChelsy previously worked as the Director of Foster Comm
 unity where she helped to build capacity for children in the child welfare
  system and establish connections with child welfare organizations to bett
 er serve communities.  As the Texas Family Support Network Coordinator wit
 h TACFS\, her role includes the coordination\, training\, and implementati
 on of the Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening and Support with a
  diverse set of providers across the state of Texas. Chelsy is passionate 
 about seeing the Child Welfare System reimagined in a way that supports co
 mmunities so families can stay together. \n\nWhen Chelsy is not working\, 
 she spends a lot of time with her family. Chelsy and her husband moved fro
 m Houston 7 years ago after they had their second child and adopted two ch
 ildren-all within six months of each other. They added their last baby to 
 the Alexander bunch in 2020. They have five children total\; two bonus kid
 s\, AJ and Olivia\, and three biological children\, Bailey\, Preston\, and
  Landon.  As an adoptive parent\, she understands the intricacies of adopt
 ion and the unique style of parenting that is utilized when raising childr
 en who have been in foster care. As a family they enjoy dancing and listen
 ing to music\, spending time with friends\, and watching sports. \n
