 of her life in a tight-knit neighborhood in the capital of Ethiopia\, surr

 mother’s home and multiple orphanages before she and her younger sister we

 age\, and culture while carrying unresolved grief and disconnection from h
 er Ethiopian roots\, Rebka grew up balancing the expectations of a white M
 idwestern family with the reality of being a Black girl whose earliest ide
 ntity had been left behind. Now a pre-law student and founder of Abera Ado
 ptee Coaching\, she continues to explore the intersections of adoption\, r
 ace\, mental health\, and belonging\, and looks forward to sharing the ong
 oing healing journey that has emerged from her experiences in Ethiopia\, i
 n America\, and in reconnecting with her family and homeland.\n\nAbout Reb
 ka:\nRebka Lile is an Ethiopian adoptee\, writer\, and speaker whose work 
 centers on identity\, loss\, and belonging in intercountry adoption. Adopt
 ed to Ohio at age ten after spending her early childhood in Ethiopia\, she
  has spent years navigating the tension of holding Ethiopian roots\, a whi
 te Midwestern family life\, and a Black American identity. She is a pre-la
 w student at The Ohio State University and the founder of Abera Adoptee Co
 aching\, where she draws on ICF-aligned training and her lived experience 
 to support adoptees as they process their stories and build lives of agenc
 y\, community\, and self-trust.\n\n\n
