As a once fully volunteer-run organization, Adoption Network Cleveland understands the importance of volunteerism. In our 2023 fiscal year, 99 volunteers donated over 1,766 hours in program and administrative roles, as well as helped to cultivate philanthropic and corporate gifts.

Twenty-five years ago, Adoption Network Cleveland recognized Susan Saltzman for playing a crucial role in the organization’s founding decade. Today, we honor, thank, and recognize Susan for her ongoing contributions and formally recognize her service with the 2023 Volunteer of the Year Award.   

Susan is an adoptee, an artist, and the creator of the Adoption Network Cleveland logo. Her current volunteerism includes serving as a highly-skilled search volunteer. Volunteers like Susan, ensure we can manage the demand for service and support, manage staff transitions, and deliver on our mission with compassion and lived experience! Susan is highly productive in this role and completes cases thoroughly and professionally.

Additionally, Susan assisted with developing concepts and design ideas for our 2023 Mother’s Day and Father’s Day card fundraiser. Adding a new fundraiser is always a great support to the organization, and it could not have happened without Susan’s support. She also responded to a request to make an anniversary video for us, and she rose to the occasion.
