As an organization that began as a fully volunteer-run initiative, Adoption Network Cleveland deeply values the power of volunteerism and the dedication that volunteers bring to our mission. Although our programs and services have grown significantly over the years, volunteers continue to sit at the heart of our work, helping us create meaningful connections and support individuals and families impacted by adoption. In our 2025 fiscal year, 158 volunteers contributed more than 3,000 hours of service through program support, administrative assistance, advocacy during Lobby Day, and hands-on help during our office move and community events. Every hour donated strengthens our ability to serve and expands the reach of our mission.
This year, we are proud to recognize Amy Zlotnik as our 2025 Volunteer of the Year. When you think of someone who truly embodies the heart of Adoption Network Cleveland, many of us think of Amy. Her warmth, energy, and unwavering dedication have made her an integral part of our community and a steady source of support, connection, and encouragement for those we serve.
Amy has contributed in numerous roles over the years: Board Member, Search Volunteer, and General Discussion Meeting Co-Facilitator. Across all of these roles, she has brought compassion, determination, and a deep belief in the power of connection. Through her tireless work on countless search cases, many resulting in life-changing reunions, Amy has helped individuals and families find answers, healing, and hope at pivotal moments in their lives.
Alongside co-facilitator Kim Dyckes, Amy was also instrumental in reviving our in-person General Discussion Meetings, helping to rebuild an engaging, welcoming space where adoptees, birth family, and adoptive family members can come together to share, process, and support one another.
Amy’s leadership extended into new areas this year through her role as Co-Chair of our inaugural Over the Edge event. She guided the committee with enthusiasm and clear direction—securing in-kind donations for the raffle, coordinating logistics for volunteer training, and offering thoughtful insight during the location selection process. Her encouragement inspired committee members to actively fundraise and promote the event within their networks. Amy’s creativity, drive, and teamwork helped establish a strong foundation for this unique and successful event.
Her commitment does not stop when her volunteer shift ends. Amy is a steady advocate for Adoption Network Cleveland, sharing our mission with her family, friends, and everyone she meets, continually inspiring others to get involved and give back. As Program Manager Karen Wyman shared when nominating her, “Amy doesn’t just volunteer—she builds community. Her warmth, leadership, and belief in connection have made a lasting impact on so many lives.”
We are grateful for Amy’s incredible contributions and for the kindness, leadership, and community she continues to foster within our organization.
Congratulations, Amy, on this well-deserved recognition as our 2025 Volunteer of the Year!
