OVER THE EDGE BASICS
- Rappellers must weigh between 100 and 300 pounds to ensure their safety while rappelling.
- Rappellers come down two at a time, so if you wanted to go Over The Edge with someone, you can!
- Anyone under the age of 18 requires a parent or guardian’s signature on the legal waiver and must have a parent or guardian present during the rappel.
- No previous experience needed – OTE technicians will provide all of the training and support you’ll need.
- Costumes ARE allowed. The technical team has the final say in whether your costume is safe. Loose or excessive costumes and capes should be avoided. Head pieces that won’t accommodate a helmet, obscure your vision or are notably large or heavy will not be allowed.
- Wear sneakers, well-fitting clothes, and long hair pulled back.
- If you have a Go-Pro, bring it! Helmets provided by Over The Edge allow for Go-Pro usage.
- Bring your cheering section!

FUNDRAISING BASICS
- Make a list and make your ask.
- Be authentic -- use your own voice and your own story when asking friends and family to contribute to your campaign.
- Keep it simple -- start by asking a broad group of people via email or on social media and then narrow down to individuals you think would support your campaign.
- Share your personal fundraising link in as many places as you can.
- Ask us for help! If you're stuck or want to brainstorm some fundraising ideas, reach out to Sarah at sarah.wolf@adoptionnetwork.org or Patricia at patricia.hughes@adoptionnetwork.org and they will be happy to assist.
FUNDRAISING INCENTIVE: Priority for selecting your rappel time will go to those who meet their fundraising goal first!
I'VE REGISTERED -- WHAT'S NEXT?
- Complete your fundraising by August 14.
- Be on the lookout for communication from Sarah and Patricia regarding sign-ups for rappel times, t-shirt size, and other event-day information.
Please plan to be with us for about an hour/hour and a half to complete your pre-rappel safety training prior to going Over The Edge. - Start thinking about a song you’d like to hear our DJ play while you rappel.
- Start thinking about an intro message you’d like our emcee Tim Alcorn to read while you rappel.
- Sarah and Patricia are here as resources if you need help or have questions! Reach out any time.
