One of the largest barriers to the adoption of children and youth is the difficulty faced by prospective adoptive families and those considering kinship/custodial arrangements in moving from their initial inquiry to actually providing a permanent home for a child in need. By providing the services of our Permanency Navigator, Adoption Network Cleveland greatly increases the likelihood that someone who inquires about adopting will successfully navigate the training, application, home study and placement process.

If you are interested in becoming an adoptive parent, our Permanency Navigator provides support to you before, during and after the process of adopting, especially those adopting from the public child welfare system (children who are in county care who have been removed from their birth families through no fault of their own). Our Permanency Navigator can provide support, information and referrals to you after you have adopted, in order to ensure that you have the resources you need to make your adoption successful.

Additionally, our Permanency Navigator is available to help guide current/prospective kinship families through various processes including guardianship, legal custody, and adoption. The pros and cons of each process can be weighed for your specific situation to determine what is best for the child and your family.

We ask families adopting privately to become Navigator members of Adoption Network Cleveland. This membership gives you access to our Adoption Navigator, who provides support and assistance through the adoption process. If you are interested in adopting from the public child welfare system (foster care), a Navigator membership isn't required, but we encourage you to become a Family (Basic) or Individual member.

Our Permanency Navigator helps create and sustain families by offering support to parents throughout their journey, and help children by assisting in finding “forever families” for them. Let us know how we can help you.
